Guarantees
Your guarantee, in plain English
Ten years on the door and frame, ten years on the hardware, and one place to ring if something goes wrong. Here is what that actually means.
What is covered
| Component | Cover | Period |
|---|---|---|
| Door leaf | Manufacturing defects, delamination, warping beyond tolerance | 10 years |
| Colour finish | Peeling, flaking or blistering of the GRP skin | 10 years |
| Outerframe | Manufacturing defects and structural failure | 10 years |
| Glazed units | Seal failure causing internal misting | 10 years |
| Locks and hinges | Mechanical failure in normal use | 10 years |
| Handles and furniture | Finish failure and mechanical failure | 10 years |
| Cylinders | Mechanical failure | 10 years |
The guarantee runs from the date of delivery and covers the original purchaser at the original delivery address. The manufacturer's own guarantee sits behind ours, but you never have to deal with them.
What is not covered
Being straight about this up front is more useful than burying it. None of the following are guarantee claims:
- Incorrect installation. This is the big one. A composite door that is out of square, packed badly or fitted with the frame twisted will drop, bind and stop locking, and none of that is a manufacturing fault.
- Damage in transit that was not reported on the day of delivery.
- Accidental or impact damage, vandalism, or attempted forced entry.
- Normal adjustment. Doors settle. Hinges and keeps are adjustable by design and periodic adjustment is maintenance, not a defect.
- Wear on moving parts caused by lack of lubrication.
- Very slight colour lightening on dark colours in prolonged direct sunlight.
- Scratches, scuffs and marks discovered after installation.
- Doors that have been painted, drilled, cut or otherwise modified after delivery.
Keeping the guarantee valid
- Have it fitted by somebody competent. A composite door is not a difficult fit, but it does need to go in square and be packed correctly at the hinges and the lock keeps.
- Wash the door two or three times a year with warm soapy water. Do not use solvents, abrasives or a pressure washer.
- Lubricate the hinges, the lock mechanism and the cylinder once a year with a light machine oil or a dedicated lock lubricant. Not WD-40, which strips the existing grease.
- Keep your order reference. It is on your confirmation email and it is all we need to find everything else.
Making a claim
- 1Ring or email us with your order reference and a description of the problem.
- 2Send photographs. Wide shots showing the whole door in the opening, plus close ups of the issue. Nine times out of ten this is enough to diagnose it.
- 3We assess it, and where it is a manufacturing fault we raise it with the manufacturer and manage the replacement or repair.
- 4Where it turns out to be an installation or adjustment issue, we will tell you plainly, explain what needs doing, and help you get it sorted even though it is not a warranty claim.
You always contact us, never the factory. We placed the order, so it is ours to resolve. That is the whole point of buying from a retailer rather than direct.
Your statutory rights
This guarantee is in addition to your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and does not affect them. Goods must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality regardless of what any guarantee says.
